Nhanhla Majola, also known as Gifted Soul-Child, is the self-proclaimed 'Chillout Specialist' from Kimberley, South Africa. His musical origin story was destined from his childhood as the families regular deejay. Its been an ever evolving journey since then. Now based in Cape Town, Gifted has carved his own niche which can be attributed to his fight for versatility.

A PIONEER.
Gifted Soul-Child honed his craft for many years but his unorthodoxy and nonconformist approach to genre and conventions have actually played a pertinent role in his evolution. The Chillout Music Producer and Dj is notorious for playing and producing music at 100BPM, standard for Midtempo and Kwaito which are major influences to his style of composition. When asked what sub-genre he’d place himself in, he replies: “I’m a lounge/ outdoor Chillas setup guy as the mood allows for that which I specialise in.” This mood specific curation of sound is evident in all his music even down to the process of production.
From his first online mix series WareHouse Session in 2014 and a well received reception the Market @ McGregor the following year, 2015 cemented the artists foot in the industry. This year however, Gifted has returned to share with us his new EP 'Vulindlela'. A profound title that evokes the feeling of nostalgia; a title of hope and light. A genuine story of reflection and ultimately self-actualisation through music.
"Once all was done and a name had to be given to this project, I looked within myself and realized that there was a belief I no longer practiced. It had to be native, be a statement and also obviously dope. I had to title it appropriately as I have no doubt this will put us on the map. This is us introducing ourselves to the world and rising a level above the ones we have been idling, si Vuli’Ndlela." Gifted, on naming the project.
What else could be expected though? From the thoroughness of the production process to the contributions from the likes of Metsi, who has a moment totally fit for the 'chillout' effect on 'Cocoa Butter Sensation, flawless execution is the end product. Gifted has managed to immerse himself in what he likes. A complete surrender to indulgence. Hence work with his favourite producers and vocalists. And it all pays off and we are greatful.
Gifted is now working on a compilation of music he produced calling it "Dressed To Chill" and planning an event to host the project's live showcasing alongside Johnny Wxlf and intends to release it as CDs and on online streaming services under the record label he founded this year "Chillout Factory Records". He is also a co-founder of the hood orientated clothing brand, Kasiology and has become its defacto brand ambassador. A model and muse in his free time. This mutli-talented artist sure does have his site sets for him.
